Delegation becomes important for leaders, managers and founders of organizations or divisions of an organization the moment an organization or division grows beyond one person. Effective delegation allows the organization and each person in the organization to get more done smoothly and correctly. Poorly executed delegation will only be partially successful with frustrations, confusions and backtracking for people in the organization.

Effective delegation to another person in the organization includes the person:
- knowing what you want, including outcomes and results
- having the authority to achieve the assigned responsibilities
- having the skills and knowledge to do the assigned responsibilities.
